Rilke, My Beloved

Well, it's been quite a while since I've blogged...

I've been getting into German poet, Rainer Maria Rilke, lately. I'm currently reading his Letters To A Young Poet, which I highly suggest to anyone!
I found out about him by just googling quotes on a specific subject one morning and I came across this quote by him that really stood out to me:

"Have patience with everything that remains unsolved in your heart. Try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books written in a foreign language. Do not now look for the answers. They cannot now be given to you because you could not live them. It is a question of experiencing everything. At present, you need to live the question. Perhaps, you will gradually, without even noticing it, find yourself experiencing the answer, some distant day." -Rilke, Letters To A Young Poet

It was exactly what I needed. I was talking to a friend the night before about how I just wanted to know certain things that would happen in the future. He disagreed with my point of view. I find that I torture myself quite often wondering what will become of my relationships with certain people, what will become of my dreams. I forget that I should be IN the moment. Tomorrow is not a guarantee.

I have plans to get that quote tattooed on my arm in its original German. It will serve as a daily reminder to LIVE THE QUESTIONS.
